Moon in Pisces
The last sign. The walls thin and the water comes through.
Moon in Pisces is the two-to-two-and-a-half-day monthly transit through the mutable water sign ruled by Jupiter, with Neptune as its modern co-ruler — the last sign before the wheel begins again. Emotion loses its edges: porousness, compassion, dreaminess, the pull to escape. The tradition reads it as the month's dissolution.
The Moon is in Capricorn right now — not in Pisces.

The three of the 28 lunar mansions that fall inside Pisces, sampled from the next transit.
- 26/28Al-Fargh al-Muqaddam
The Front Spout — the first of the water-pouring mansions of Aquarius. A mansion of release and outflow.
- 27/28Al-Fargh al-Mu'akhar
The Rear Spout — the second water-pouring mansion. A mansion of completion and the emptying of the cup.
- 28/28Al-Risha
The Rope — the cord of the Fishes. The last mansion, a mansion of binding and the tying of the cycle.
Where the wheel dissolves before it restarts
Pisces is the twelfth sign, the one that receives everything the other eleven could not finish, and the Moon here is at her most permeable. Mutable water has no shape of its own; it takes the shape of whatever it is poured into. During these two days you may absorb a stranger's mood on a train, weep at something small, lose an hour to a daydream, or feel a compassion so wide it has no object. The membrane between you and the world is thin. That is the gift and the entire danger.
The alchemists called this stage solutio — dissolution, the water that dissolves whatever the fire left behind — and they insisted it be done inside a sealed vessel. Water without a container is a flood. Moon in Pisces is a monthly solutio, and the gnostic instruction is not to resist the dissolving but to provide the vessel: a practice, a time limit, a page. Escapism under this Moon — the screen, the substance, the sleep that goes on too long — is dissolution that has lost its flask.
The Moon crosses Al-Fargh al-Mu'akhar, the second spout, and Al-Risha, the cord — the rope that binds the two fish and, in the old star-lore, the well-rope that draws water up from the deep. Everything in the sky pours out here, and the cord is what lets it be drawn back. Surrender that keeps hold of the rope is the whole art of a Pisces transit.
What to do while the Moon is in Pisces
Record your dreams for the length of the transit — a notebook by the bed, written before your feet touch the floor. Pisces Moon opens the channel, and a dream written down is the vessel that keeps the water. Then practise conscious dissolution: sit for fifteen minutes and let every boundary soften — skin, thought, name — with one anchor kept, the breath. When the fifteen minutes end, stand up, drink water, and say your own name aloud. The container is not optional.
Avoid numbing — the transit's porousness makes every anaesthetic more tempting and more effective. Avoid taking on feelings that are not yours and then treating them as facts about your life. Avoid martyrdom, the specific Piscean shadow in which suffering for others replaces meeting your own. And avoid decisions made while the edges are gone; they will look different when the walls return.

The phase matters too
Sign is the where; phase is the when. Right now the Moon is in its Waxing Gibbous phase. The two phases that best fit Pisces's instruction:
Terms to sit with
- Dissolution
Latin: dissolvere — to loosen apart, to dissolve
- Solutio
Latin: solutio — a loosening, dissolving, solution
- Aqua Permanens
Latin: aqua permanens — the permanent water, the water that remains
- Surrender
Old French: surrendre — to give up, deliver; in spiritual usage, the deliberate releasing of the ego's control-agenda to allow direct contact with the deeper organizing intelligence; not defeat but precision relinquishment
If your Sun is in Pisces, the Moon's monthly return here is the window the sacred-secretion tradition works with.
Sacred secretion window for Pisces →Tonight, before sleep, lie down and imagine yourself as water held in a bowl — the whole body liquid, the bowl firm. Breathe until the liquid is still. Then ask for one dream and mean it. In the morning, write whatever came, even a colour, before you speak to anyone.
Questions
What does Moon in Pisces mean?
Moon in Pisces means the Moon is passing through the mutable water sign ruled by Jupiter and, in modern astrology, Neptune — the last sign of the zodiac. Emotionally it reads as porous, compassionate and dreamlike: boundaries thin and everything is felt. The tradition treats it as the month's dissolution before the cycle restarts.
How long is the Moon in Pisces?
The Moon spends about 2.4 days (2 d 8 h) in Pisces each pass — across the next six transits, between 2 d 7 h and 2 d 10 h. The length of each Pisces pass follows the Moon's changing speed through its orbit; the figures above come from the computed entry and exit of each one.
When is the next Moon in Pisces?
The next Moon in Pisces begins Thu, 24 Sept 2026, 03:23 UTC and ends Sat, 26 Sept 2026, 10:23 UTC — in 5 days (computed 19 September 2026). The Moon returns to Pisces about every 27.3 days, and when it leaves it crosses 0° Aries and the whole wheel begins again.
What is Moon in Pisces good for?
Dream work, meditation, art, prayer, compassion practice, forgiveness, rest, and the alchemical work of solutio — letting what has hardened dissolve inside a safe container. It is the best transit of the month for surrender and a poor one for boundaries, deadlines or contracts.
