Sacred Secretion Dates for Pisces: Your Monthly Chrism Fast Window

Pisces's window spans 300° to 360°, the last sixty degrees of the zodiac. Phase one, the modern addition, is the Moon's transit of Aquarius (300°–330°); the midpoint is the Moon entering Pisces at 330°; phase two carries the Moon to 360° — the zero point, where the wheel begins again in Aries. Pisces's cusp days are around February 18–19 and March 20–21. If your birthday falls within two days of either, the calendar date may not settle whether the Sun was in Aquarius, Pisces or Aries; the ingress shifts by up to a day between years. Pisces is Water, ruled by Jupiter in the old scheme and Neptune in the modern, and in the body-map it holds the feet and the lymph — the lowest point of the frame and the slow fluid that drains it. Carey's Pisces salt was iron phosphate, the oxygen-carrier, the one he associated with the blood's capacity to hold breath. Image, not remedy. The feet are the point: Pisces is where the body meets the ground, and also where it most easily forgets it has one.

For a Pisces the window is not about food. Astrologers read this sign as already drifting away from the table; the discipline is staying present. The modern first half puts the Moon in Aquarius, cool and mental, and this reading has a Water sign meet it as detachment — the temptation to float off into ideas or sleep and let the window pass unwitnessed. The water fast later practice adds here is not Carey's, who wrote against fasting (God-Man, p. 103). Feet on the floor. Stay in the body.

When the Moon crosses into Pisces the seed is said to be born and the tide is running in your own sign — Water in Water, the dissolving element dissolved. The region lit is the feet. The tradition's counsel is quiet and nothing that numbs; Carey names alcohol first. Pisces has more ways to numb than any other sign, and most of them are not food. Retention here means keeping what you feel in the body rather than letting it drain away into escape. Your window closes at the zero point of the zodiac; whatever you carry through it is what you begin the wheel with.
