Every date on this page is computed from a real ephemeris (astronomy-engine), not copied from a table. Moon phases, equinoxes, solstices and eclipse peaks match USNO and NASA to within a minute; planetary ingresses and Mercury's stations are within a few minutes of JPL; the stations of Jupiter to Pluto are given to the day only.

UTC is the time at the Greenwich meridian. Add your own offset before you plan by these times.

Method

How the Dates Are Computed

Every date on this page comes from the astronomy-engine ephemeris, computed on our server and recomputed every hour, not copied from a table. A full moon is the instant the Moon stands 180° from the Sun and a new moon the instant it stands at 0°; the sign is the Moon's tropical sign at that instant. An eclipse is marked on the lunation it falls on, and lunar eclipses follow NASA's shadow convention.

Mercury is retrograde from the moment its longitude seen from Earth stops rising to the moment it rises again, and both stations are given to the minute. The equinoxes and solstices are the instants the Sun enters Aries, Cancer, Libra and Capricorn. The quarter moons and the Moon's daily change of sign are on the calendar's front page and on the phase pages.

Add the Dates to Your Calendar

Each date has its own .ics file, the standard calendar format. Open it and your calendar adds the event: Apple Calendar and Outlook open it directly, and in Google Calendar you use Settings, then Import and export. The file stores the moment in UTC, so your calendar shows it in your own time zone.

A full moon, a new moon, an equinox or a solstice is an instant and appears as a point in time. A Mercury retrograde spans its weeks as an all-day event, with the exact stations in its notes. The file with every date is the same list in one download; subscribe to it instead and the next six months stay on your calendar as they roll forward.
