Sacred Secretion Dates for Aquarius: The Water-Bearer's Monthly Fast Window

The Aquarius arc is 270° to 330°. Phase one, the modern addition, is the Moon's transit of Capricorn, from the solstice degree to 300°; the midpoint is the Moon entering Aquarius; phase two is the Moon crossing Aquarius to 330°, where Pisces begins. Because the Moon moves faster near perigee and slower near apogee, the twelve windows below range from 5d 1h to 5d 2h, averaging 5d 1h.

Aquarius's cusp days fall around January 19–20 and February 18–19. Born within two days of either? The Sun's ingress shifts by up to a day between years, so the date alone may not decide between Capricorn, Aquarius and Pisces — and each window sits a full sign apart. Aquarius is Air, ruled by Saturn in the old scheme and Uranus in the modern, and in the body-map it holds the ankles, the calves and the circulation — the current that moves through the whole system, the electrical and the fluid. Carey's Aquarius salt was sodium chloride, common salt, the water-distributor; he liked that the sign of the water-bearer carried the substance that carries water. Image, not remedy. Circulation is the key: an Aquarian body is a network, and its appetites are network appetites — for information, for the collective, for the signal.

The window cuts the signal. The modern first half puts the Moon in Capricorn, and astrologers read that Saturnian weight landing on an Air sign as heaviness, the sense of being pulled down into a body you usually treat as a vehicle. The water fast later practice adds here is not Carey's, who wrote against fasting (God-Man, p. 103). The fast this sign's reading asks for is a fast from the feed: less input of every kind. Notice how quickly the mind reaches for the screen; the hungers are cousins.

When the Moon crosses into Aquarius the seed is said to be born and to begin its ascent, and the lit region is your own: the lower legs, the pulse, the current. The tradition asks for stillness — nothing to stimulate, nothing to accelerate. Retention for an Aquarius means keeping the charge inside instead of broadcasting it. For these days you do not have to be ahead of anyone. Feel the pulse in your own ankles and let that be the only network you are on.
