Sacred Secretion Dates for Aries: Your Monthly Chrism Fast Window

Moon at 330° — enters Pisces · 0° — enters Aries · 30° — enters Taurus

Aries is the first sign, so its window straddles the zero point of the zodiac. Phase one, the modern addition, is the Moon's whole passage through Pisces, from 330° to 360°. The midpoint is the Moon crossing 0° Aries — the same degree the Sun crosses at the spring equinox. Phase two is the Moon's passage through Aries to 30°, where Taurus begins. The Moon covers this 60° arc in about four and a half days, faster near perigee and slower near apogee, which is why the twelve lengths below are not identical: they run from 4d 13h to 4d 21h.

Born within two days of March 20 or April 19? The Sun changes sign on slightly different days each year, so the date alone cannot settle whether you are a late Pisces or an early Aries — and the two windows are offset by a full sign. The calculator asks for your birth time and birthplace timezone and resolves it from the Sun's true position. Check there before you rely on these dates.

Aries is Fire, ruled by Mars, and in the old body-map it governs the head — the brain, the eyes, the face. Carey placed the whole zodiac inside the body and gave Aries the head (God-Man, p. 92). Astrologers read the sign as impulse that acts before thought has caught up; if that is your Sun, you may know the picture: the decision made a half-second before the mind agrees to it.

The modern window works against that grain. Its first half, the Moon in Pisces, is not in Carey's books; later practice treats it as preparation. Pisces is water, dissolution, the sign of letting go, and astrologers read the Moon there as carrying that quality into a sign that would rather begin something. The counsel people give for those two and a quarter days is not to start: not the new project, not the argument. The water fast often attached to them is a modern layer; Carey himself wrote against fasting (God-Man, p. 103).

When the Moon crosses into Aries, Carey and Perry say the seed is born in the solar plexus; saved, it rises toward the head — your sign's own region. Carey's salt for Aries was potassium phosphate, which he called the salt of the brain and the nerves; read it as a symbol. The tradition's point for this sign is simple. Everything Mars wants to spend outward — heat, speed, the fight — the window asks you to keep. Quiet in the mouth, and a head that is allowed to go empty. What surfaces in that emptiness is usually the thing the speed was for.

Tonight, after dark, lie face down on the floor with your forehead resting on the backs of your hands. Aries lives in the head; give the head somewhere to put its weight. Breathe slowly and count ten exhalations. On each one, notice the impulse to get up and do something — it will come, reliably, around the fourth breath. Do not obey it and do not fight it; just watch how quickly a Mars body reaches for motion when the fire has nowhere to go. That watching is the whole exercise. Ten breaths, alone, nothing to buy.
