How the tradition reads it

Aquarius carries an eclipse in each of the year's two eclipse seasons. The annular solar eclipse in early February falls in the middle of the sign — the Moon centred on the Sun but too small to cover it, leaving a ring of light — and the penumbral lunar eclipse in mid-August falls with the Moon at Aquarius's late degrees, opposite the Sun in Leo. The ring in winter, the shade in summer: the water-bearer is outlined in February and dimmed in August, and the tradition reads the two as one sentence.

Mercury stations retrograde inside it, in Pisces's first degrees, and backs into Aquarius, turning direct there in early March. The new moon in Aquarius is the annular eclipse itself.
