How the tradition reads it
Two facts define Cancer's 2027, and both are absences. There is no full moon in Cancer at all this year — the lunations skip from Sagittarius in June straight to Capricorn in July — and the only lunar eclipse of the summer happens with the Sun in Cancer and the Moon in the opposite sign. The crab's light is present in the season and hidden in the Moon. For the most lunar sign of the zodiac, that is an unusual asymmetry, and the tradition would not let it pass unread.
The season opens at the solstice and runs to late July. Mercury is already retrograde when it begins — it stationed in early June in Cancer's first degrees and is walking back toward Gemini — so the first two weeks of your season carry a returning message rather than a new one, until Mercury turns direct in early July. The new moon in Cancer follows within hours of that station: a seed planted the same day the messenger turns around.
