How the tradition reads it

Libra's 2027 is held between two equinoxes and cut by one retrograde. The season begins at the autumn equinox — the day the scales are literally level — and runs to late October. Mercury stations retrograde two weeks into that season, in Scorpio's first degrees, and backs into Libra, stopping there at the end of October. The last three weeks of Libra season, in other words, are spent re-weighing. The shadow opened in mid-September and does not clear until mid-November.

The full moon in Libra fell earlier, in March, two days after the spring equinox — the mirror-point of the year. The new moon in Libra arrives at the end of September, one week into the season and one week before Mercury turns. Mars passes through Libra from mid-July to the start of September, and Venus from mid-September to early October, so for the first three weeks of the season Libra's own planet is at home.

No eclipse falls in Libra in 2027 and no slow planet enters or leaves. The tradition reads the scales as the moment of judgement in the Egyptian hall — the heart weighed against the feather, and the weighing done without cruelty. This year the weighing happens twice: once at the equinox, in daylight, and once in the retrograde, with Mercury in the room asking whether the first verdict was honest.

The practice

Weigh it twice

At the autumn equinox, write down one judgement you have made this year about a person — fair, in your view. Put it away. When Mercury stations direct in Libra at the end of October, read it again and ask whether it was the heart weighed against the feather, or the heart weighed against your convenience. Adjust the sentence. That adjustment is the whole work of the sign this year.
